A Tripel from the south of France may sound unlikely, but this one plays it with a straight face and a light hand. Brewed in the Belgian style, it's refermented on lees and lightly dry-hopped, bringing white blossom, orange peel and a flicker of spice over a golden, gently textured base. The Brewery:
Cap dOna was founded in 1998 by Gregor Engler, originally from Lorraine - a region with a rich brewing heritage. He set up shop in Banyuls-sur-Mer, at the other end of the country, bringing that tradition with him to the Mediterranean coast. His beers span crisp, sunlit blondes, robust dark lagers, and the occasional barrel-aged outlier, all brewed with quiet precision and a strong sense of place. Over 50 gold medals speak for themselves, but it's the character and consistency that have earned this brewery its reputation.
