Description
In a nutshell:
A biodynamic white from Stellenbosch that's all about juicy peach, zesty citrus, and a herby twist, with plenty of fresh, coastal zip to keep it lively and seriously moreish.
The lowdown:
This South African white has a lovely balance of softness and freshness, with a bright mineral edge running through it. Mostly Chenin Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc, with a splash of Semillon, it's partly barrel-fermented for a bit of extra depth. There's loads of lime, grapefruit, and peach, plus a touch of tropical fruit that hangs around on the finish. Made with a gentle touch in the winery, it's layered and elegant, but still fresh, lively, and easy to enjoy.
The Producer:
Waterkloof, established in 2004 by Paul Boutinot, is a bit of a favourite of those who appreciate wines made with care and a more than a touch of conscience. This family-run estate is proudly organic and biodynamic, even sporting the WWF Biodiversity Champion title. Perched on the Schapenberg hills overlooking False Bay, their vineyards benefit from cool breezes and a leisurely growing season, producing wonderfully balanced fruit. In the cellar, winemaker Nadia Langenegger allows the grapes to speak for themselves with minimal interference, creating wines that feel genuine, refined, and very much a taste of their unique surroundings.
When to drink:
Great with grilled tuna, lemony prawn risotto, or a simple fish curry - the fresh citrus, soft texture, and herbal edge work beautifully with seafood. A pleasure to enjoy on its own too.
Suitable for Vegans, Biodynamic
