Description
At a Glance:
| Firm & Spicy Red | Medium-Bodied | Lightly Oaked | Vegan | Tuscany & Central Italy | ABV 13.0% | 75cl |
In a Nutshell:
A fresh and approachable style of Chianti, with impressive depth of flavour, from the hills south of Florence, Italy.
The Lowdown:
This lively and engaging Chianti hails from the hills south of Florence. Aged for 6 months in large oak casks, it offers impressive depth of flavour for its price. Youll find cherry and redcurrant aromas, with light oak and a hint of spice. On the palate, it delivers concentrated red berry and plum fruit, accompanied by savoury notes. The supple tannins and vibrant acidity provide real depth and interest. An archetypal and affordable Chianti.
The Producer:
Winemaker Giuseppe Losapio founded Azienda Uggiano in the early 1970s, developing it into a leading Chianti Colli Fiorentini producer. With 100 hectares of vineyards in Colli Fiorentini and Chianti Classico, they make a range of classic Tuscan reds from bright entry-level Chianti to impressive Riserva wines, which are known for their quality and affordability. In 2015, the Losapio family sold the estate to Uggiano's experienced management team, including commercial manager Giacomo Fossati and winemaker Daniele Prosperi under whose guidance things look to be in good health.
When to Drink:
A wine with real depth meaning it would pair best with grilled and roast meats.
