Description
In a nutshell:
Lively, light and juicy, this a deliciously chilled - and chillable - Hungarian red.
The lowdown:
Crisp, juicy and very quaffable this most definitely is, so works a treat when you're after a bracing, fruity mouthful. Along with the red berry fruits, there's a mere hint of spiciness - a characteristic of the grape - which lends it a really good balance. Historically one of Hungary's main red grapes, Kekfrankos is not seen quite so much these days, but in the Szekszárd region, where this comes from, it's ideally suited to the local terroir and can make splendidly refreshing wines.
The Producer:
Based in the southern wine region of Szekszárd west of the Danube, Schieber were established in 1978 and have vineyards in the sheltered Baranya valley which is well suited to growing Kadarka and Kékfrankos used as the principal varieties in their carefully produced wines.
When to drink:
Chill it - just a bit - for great refreshment and with food the spicy hints work well with full flavoured poultry and game dishes.
Suitable for Vegans
