Description
Rich & Rounded White
Dry, Light-Bodied, Lightly Oaked
Burgundy, ABV 13.0%, 75cl
In a Nutshell:
A rounded and smooth Côte Chalonnaise white Burgundy with a delicate acidity.
The Lowdown:
White is what the village of Rully does best and in this cuvée from Domaine Faiveley it's freshness shines out very well. About half the wine is fermented and aged in oak giving it a well proportioned creaminess and and subtle tannic balance. On the nose there's a touch of flinty minerality which gives way to a fruity fleshiness on the palate with a well judged touch of acidity to maintain the freshness.
The Producer:
Domaine Faiveley, one of Burgundy's famous names, has been based in Nuits-Saint-Georges since 1825 under the same family ownership and has always been completely independent. They are one of the largest vineyard owners in Burgundy and most of their wines with their own rather than bought-in fruit. Among their holdings are 10 Grand Crus and 20 Premier Crus spread over 16 villages. In the Côte Chalonnaise, Faiveley owns one of the largest Domaines in Mercurey. Their wines are classic Burgundies with wonderful longevity, aromatics and a unique, elegant style.
When to Drink:
Nicely flavourfilled it lingers pleasantly on the palate and is a good pairing with the likes of salmon, or light chicken dishes.
