Description
At a Glance:
| Crisp & Fresh White | Dry | Light-Medium Body | Lightly Oaked | Vegetarian | Loire Valley | ABV 12.5% | 75cl |
In a Nutshell:
Precise, mineral, and mouth-wateringly crisp Upper Loire Valley Sauvignon.
The Lowdown:
This is Pouilly-Fumé as it should be - dry, taut and finely made by Arnaud and Stéphanie Dezat. It's got bright citrus and green apple fruit, layered with a gentle smokiness that marks it out as classic Upper Loire Sauvignon. The Dezat family have long had a reputation for producing elegant, understated whites, and this is no exception. Best opened while the fruit is still fresh and everything's humming along with energy and lift. Precise, well-balanced, and full of character.
The Producer:
Arnaud and Stéphanie Dezat are carrying on the family tradition at their eponymous domaine, having branched off from the legendary André Dezat estate. Alongside their cousin Firmin, they're one of two next-generation branches keeping the name alive in Sancerre and Pouilly-Fumé. They've recently built a sleek new winery just down the road from the old cellars, but the approach remains classic: precise, expressive Sauvignon Blanc made with the same attention to detail their father, uncle, and grandfather were known for. It's a modern set-up, but the roots run deep and the wines still speak with that unmistakable Loire clarity.
When to Drink:
Great on its own, or with goats' cheese, shellfish, or simple grilled fish - anything that matches its brightness and keeps things fresh.
