Description
In a nutshell:
An intensely saline, bone-dry sherry from Sanlúcar de Barrameda is a fascinating taste of an older style of Manzanilla Pasada - savoury, complex, and utterly captivating.
The lowdown:
This captivating sherry offers deep, savoury aromas of roasted nuts and a hint of dried citrus peel. It's a rare example of Manzanilla Pasada, a richer and older expression of the traditional style. It has been aged for around 14 years (twice as long as typical for Pasada) in a solera established back in 1986. The winemakers meticulously sele4cted only 7 of the finest barrels from the solera for this unique bottling. On the palate, it displays remarkable complexity and power, balanced by a lingering freshness and elegant notes of oxidation. A truly singular sherry experience.
The Producer:
Equipo Navazos isn't a winery; it's a movement. They're a collective of passionate individuals led by the revered Jesús Barquín, dedicated to unearthing the hidden gems of Andalusia's fortified wine regions. Their focus is simple: to find those rare, aged casks of sherry demonstrating extraordinary finesse and character and bottling these treasures in small batches. But they don't stop there. Recent collaborations with the likes of Dirk Niepoort and Sergi Colet have brought forth fascinating still wines from Jerez and captivating sparklers from Penèdes. Equipo Navazos showcases the soul of Spanish winemaking.
When to drink:
This dry, aged sherry calls for good jamón, sliced thinly with crusty bread and a few olives.
Suitable for Vegans
