Bodegas Hidalgo-La Gitana
Bodegas HIDALGO LA GITANA was founded in 1792. Since then the firm has passed from father to son, being today one of the few wine-making companies in the framework, managed by the family and run by the eighth generation on the founder's direct line.
Don José Pantaleón Hidalgo founded the Bodega Hidalgo in 1792 when he bought a small warehouse from Don Roque Vejarano. However, it would be during the 19th century when the company would grow to become one of the most important Manzanilla producers in the world.
The name alludes to its star product, «Manzanilla LA GITANA», backed by several relevant international awards, is the most popular Chamomile in both the national and international markets. The winery uses the grapes from its vineyards, located in the Balbaina and Miraflores payments, considered to be the best in the Marco.
