Description
In a nutshell:
Fresh, juicy, and effortlessly vibrant - this is Victoria Pinot Noir at its most inviting, bursting with bright red fruit and a silky, smooth finish.
The lowdown:
Pinot Noir thrives in Victoria's Mornington Peninsula, where the cool coastal influence helps create silky, juicy styles full of bright red berry fruit and a touch of spice. This one captures all that in an easy, vibrant way. Bursting with fresh red berries, soft spice, and smooth, silky tannins, it's spent nine months in French oak barriques, adding just a hint of savoury depth and a gentle, toasty roundness to the finish. Lively, supple, and effortlessly drinkable, it's exactly the kind of Pinot that makes Mornington such a standout for the variety.
The Producer:
These days, the Mornington Peninsula is known for top-drawer cool-climate Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, but back in the early '80s, it wasn't really on the winemaking map. That changed when Garry Crittenden set up shop, making Crittenden Estate one of the pioneers of the region. Still family-owned, it remains one of Mornington's key players, standing out among the 80-odd producers that have turned this corner of Victoria into a serious wine destination. Now in the hands of Garry's children, Rollo and Zoe, the estate looks well set for the future - just as it helped shape Mornington's past.
When to drink:
Perfect with duck breast and cherry sauce, herb-roast chicken, or crispy pork belly, it also suits salmon or a good charcuterie board. Just as enjoyable on its own as it is with food.
Suitable for Vegans
