Monterey's breezy vineyards are prime Pinot Noir territory, with cool Pacific winds funnelling up the Salinas Valley to create perfect growing conditions. This is a bright, juicy example, packed with red cherry, raspberry, and rhubarb notes, backed by silky tannins, fresh acidity, and a touch of spice. A little time in French oak adds subtle complexity, but it's the vibrant, upfront fruit that takes centre stage. Approachable and fresh, it's got plenty of charm while offering enough structure and depth to lift it beyond a simple glugger. Proper cool-climate California Pinot Noir that comfortably overdelivers.

Seared tuna or roast pork belly are spot on here - an easy-going Pinot with bright red fruit and fresh acidity, it cuts through richness while adding just the right touch of elegance to the table.

The Old Stage label comes from the Franscioni family, one of the key vineyard owners in northern Monterey. Their nearly 300 hectares of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir sit at the foot of the Gabilan Mountains, benefiting from the region’s cool climate. While much of their fruit goes to some of the biggest names in the industry, they keep back some of the best for themselves. And with the expertise of consultant winemaker Dan Karlsen, they craft Chardonnay and Pinot Noir that truly reflects their terroir - elegant, expressive, and offering remarkable value for money.
