The lowdown:
This elegant Chardonnay, from the areas well-respected co-operative, is a great example of a Côte dOr white that doesnt dent the pocket too much. Medium-bodied and light in the mouth, it offers loads of ripe pear and white-fleshed fruitiness, complemented by a generous minerality. As a good quality white from the Beaune area, it stands up pretty well.
The Producer:
Nuiton-Beaunoy, started in 1957 in Orches, a village in the Hautes-Côtes de Beaune, has grown to become the only co-operative in the Côte d'Or. They've got over 80 members with vineyards across many of the region's appellations with their cellar being on the southern outskirts of Beaune. It's great for discovering a wide range good value Burgundies which really show off the region's diversity.
When to drink:
Very versatile, it suits pairing with chicken, turkey, shellfish, or seafood dishes.
