Description
In a nutshell:
A slighty hazy and yeasty Bavarian beer with a gentle hop bitterenss from the Ayinger Brewery in the heart of Bavaria just south of Munich.
The lowdown:
Kellerbier is something of an old fashioned style that's bottled unfiltered thus retaining more yeasty and hoppy flavours plus a naturally slightly hazy colour. An altogether very drinkable beer.
The Brewery:
Located midway between Munich and the Alps in the village of Aying, Ayinger is a relative newcomer among Bavarian breweries. Established in the 1870s the brewery is well known for organising its own local Oktoberfest celebrations since its location precludes it from taking part in the larger annual Munich beer festival.
Style - Bock, Marzen & Festbiers ABV 4.9% - Moderate Strength
