Description
In a nutshell:
A modern elegant Gavi, textural, concentrated, and food friendly from Piemonte, Italy.
The lowdown:
The first impressions you get here are appealing citrus and white flower aromas with a touch of piquant white spice swirling around. On the tongue a riper orchard and stone fruit character starts to emerge along with a gently rounded, lightly nutty texture. Being vinified entirely in stainless steel tanks means it has got a real, refreshing acidity and underlying minerality combine to keep it all nicely invigorating and in perfect balance.
The Producer:
Alasia, is part of one of Piedmont's largest and most forward-thinking co-operatives and situated in the Monferrato hills in the heart of Barbera d'Asti territory. Here they work with 230 grower members to source quality grapes from around 690ha of vineyards. Despite their size they have a real family run feel about them thanks largely to the husband and wife management/winemaking team of Claudio Manera and Lella Burdese. Founded in 1954 by Livio Manera, father of the current director and winemaker Claudio, over the past 60 years they've become a major winemaking force in Piedmont.
When to drink:
A good partner for summer salads, fish dishes and white meats.
Suitable for Vegans
