The lowdown:
Genever which is a Dutch speciality is quite different from the English style dry gins. It's sweeter and more full bodied, but still flavoured with a range of botanicals. Distilled by Zuidam in tradtional artisanal style.
The Producer:
Zuidam Distillers was started back in 1975 by Fred van Zuidam. The idea was to start a small distillery that only produced very exclusive products and they kicked off with just one small copper still after a slow start it wasn't until some 10 years later after his wife Hélène transformed the packaging of their products that things started to take off. These days sons Patrick and Gilbert run the, now state of the art, distillery which has 4 stills and over 1,000 oak barrels. They make a range of premium gins, whiskies, rums and liqueurs with all recipes being designed by Fred and Patrick van Zuidam.
