Description
In a nutshell:
Discover the vibrant, juicy character of South African reds - this friendly, refreshing bottle is easy-drinking at its best.
The lowdown:
One that really surprises with its vibrant red fruit character. Think juicy raspberries and fresh blackcurrants, lifted by a dusting of peppery spice and earthy notes. It comes from old bush vines in the cool Helderberg region, close to the ocean, where the Cinsault grape shines. The winemakers keep things simple, letting the fruit speak for itself. The result is a wine that's light, fresh, and remarkably easy to enjoy. Cinsault might not always steal the spotlight, but this bottle proves it can offer delicious, unpretentious drinking.
The Producer:
Waterkloof, established in 2004 by Paul Boutinot, is a bit of a favourite of those who appreciate wines made with care and a more than a touch of conscience. This family-run estate is proudly organic and biodynamic, even sporting the WWF Biodiversity Champion title. Perched on the Schapenberg hills overlooking False Bay, their vineyards benefit from cool breezes and a leisurely growing season, producing wonderfully balanced fruit. In the cellar, winemaker Nadia Langenegger allows the grapes to speak for themselves with minimal interference, creating wines that feel genuine, refined, and very much a taste of their unique surroundings.
When to drink:
Serve slightly chilled alongside a simple roast of game or a herb-crusted rack of lamb for a delightful pairing.
Suitable for Vegans
