Description
In a nutshell:
A charming Bordeaux blend from Stellenbosch, with juicy dark berries, a touch of cedar, and a savoury herbal twist, all kept fresh and balanced with a nice, easy finish.
The lowdown:
This is a glorious Cabernet Franc-led blend that brings together juicy dark berries, redcurrant, and plum with a floral lift and a touch of cedar. Backed by Merlot and Petit Verdot, it's silky and smooth, thanks to almost three years in old oak. There's a lovely herbal twist and a lingering spicy finishmaking it the perfect mix of New World generosity and Old World structure. Polished, balanced, and seriously easy to enjoy.
The Producer:
Waterkloof, established in 2004 by Paul Boutinot, is a bit of a favourite of those who appreciate wines made with care and a more than a touch of conscience. This family-run estate is proudly organic and biodynamic, even sporting the WWF Biodiversity Champion title. Perched on the Schapenberg hills overlooking False Bay, their vineyards benefit from cool breezes and a leisurely growing season, producing wonderfully balanced fruit. In the cellar, winemaker Nadia Langenegger allows the grapes to speak for themselves with minimal interference, creating wines that feel genuine, refined, and very much a taste of their unique surroundings.
When to drink:
Good drinking now, it'll also age gracefully over the next few years. Great with roast lamb, beef Wellington, or mushroom wellington - the dark fruit and savoury notes shine with richer dishes. It's worth decanting to let it open up.
Suitable for Vegans
