Timmermans Kriek Black Pepper Lambicus
Tart Belgian cherry lambic with a cheeky twist of warming peppery spice.
The Lowdown
This is a lambic true to its roots - a classic, barrel-aged brew bursting with characteristic tartness and subtle funk. The addition of real cherries balances the sourness with a touch of sweetness. Then comes the twist - a delicate hint of black pepper. It adds an unexpected layer of warmth and complexity without overwhelming the traditional flavours. It’s classic kriek, but with a cheeky kick up the backside.
The Producer
Founded way back in 1702, Brasserie Timmermans in the outskirts of Brussels is a mainstay of Belgian Lambic brewing and they are dedicated to this traditional style of beer. Their Oude Gueuze blends are industry benchmarks, expertly combining aged Lambics for a nuanced expression of tartness, dryness, and refreshing complexity. They're not shy with fruit additions either, with their framboise and kriek Lambics offering a delightful interplay of sweet and sour characters.
