Description
In a nutshell:
A rich and full bodied Bavarian wheat beer from Bavaria's Schneider Weisse Brauerei.
The lowdown:
This, Schnieder Weisse's original weissbier is an unflitered beer brewed to the same recipe of Georg I Schneider in 1872. It has a rich amber colour, full spicy flavour and a clove-like fruity bouquet. A uniquely satisfying experience. Schneider Weisse is an unfiltered wheat beer from Bavaria. Compared with many German weisse beers, it is very full flavoured and spicy.
The Brewery:
Dating back to the 1870s Brauerei G. Schneider & Sohn are still family owned to date. Surprisingly given the level of destruction, most German breweries survived the second world war. However, this wasn't the case for Schneider who were quite literally bombed out of their premises in Munich. It was the occupying American forces who assured their subsequent resurrection granting a licence for the brewery to continue - with significant strings attached, however. It was stipulated that all beers should be brewed to a lower strength and could only be sold to military personnel within the district of Munich. They're now a household name throughout Germany and abroad with a well-established export market. In the early 2000s they moved to a new brewery in the town of Kelheim on the banks of Danube. Their entire range is top-fermented wheat beers and watch out for their special Aventinus which is fully bottle conditioned.
Style - German Style Weissbier ABV 5.4% - Moderate Strength
