Description
In a nutshell:
A smooth Yorkshire-brewed winter ale with a cosy malty sweetness, a touch of caramel, and just a hint of hop bitterness.
The lowdown:
Brewed in Tadcaster for winter's long nights, this limited-edition ale boasts a full body from traditional fermentation in "stone Yorkshire squares". Luxuriously malty, it's balanced by the gentle bitterness of whole-dried Fuggle and Golding hops. Best appreciated by a roaring fire.
The Brewery
One of the few remaining old independent regional brewers, Samuel Smith's was established in 1758 and makes claim to be the oldest in Yorkshire. The brewery is still based in Tadcaster which is the region's brewing capital. They brew a wide range of tradtional English beers some of which are one of the last breweries to retain coopers for their wooden casks and stabling for dray horses that still undertake local deliveries.
Style - Brown Ale & Mild & Other Ales ABV 6.0% - Strong
