Description
Dry Stout & Porter
England: Surrey
ABV 7.5% - 50.0cl
In a Nutshell:
A richly roasted Christmas stout with bittersweet chocolate, dark fruit and warming strength - robust yet smooth.
The Lowdown:
Ridgeway have quite a name for their eclectic range of Christmas beers, and this is their seasonal take on stout. As you'd guess from the name, it's black as night - classic stout with richly roasted malt at its core. Bittersweet chocolate dominates, layered with dark fruit notes of plum and raisin, while toasted grain adds depth and complexity. Smooth and approachable, with a malty richness it's a robust, full-bodied Christmas stout that delivers.
The Brewery:
Ridgeway Brewing has been flying the flag for classic English beer since 2002, with founder Peter Scholey at the helm. Best known for their traditional IPAs, Bitters and ESBs, Ridgeway's beers strike a balance between heritage and the tastes of today - what they call "cutting edge tradition." Now under the wing of Crafty Brewing of Dunsfold, that philosophy looks set to flourish. The two breweries share a respect for slow-brewed, characterful ales, and their partnership promises to carry Ridgeway's legacy forward - not by reinventing the wheel, but by giving it a fresh spin for the next generation of drinkers.
