Puligny-Montrachet, Domaine Patrick Miolane 2022

Patrick Miolane has been running his family's estate, based in the Côte de Beaune village of Saint-Aubin, since 1983 when he took over aged just 20 and was joined in the enterprise by his daughter, Barbara, in 2005. Barbara looks after the winery and commercial affairs while her dad is in charge of the vineyards. They have 9 hectares of vines mainly in Saint-Aubin which they are most closely associated with and further vineyards in the neighbouring communes of Chassagne-Montrachet and Pulingy-Montrachet. As is the norm in this part of Burgundy Chardonnay forms the biggest proportion of their plantings, but they also produce some excellent reds as well.

The whole estate is worked on lutte raisonée principles, that's to say in a sustainable manner with chemical treatments being minimised as much as possible. Herbicides are not used on their soils and the vines themselves are very carefully looked after. Shoot removal is assiduously carried out thorough the summer to keep yields in check and harvesting each year is held back until ripening is complete.
