A subtlely spicy and tropical 5 year old Barbados rum that undergoes a double cask maturation.
The lowdown:
This is a blend of column and pot still Barbados rums which are aged for 3 to 4 years in bourbon casks before being shipped to France to be finished in Cognac casks at Chateau de Bonbonnet under the watchful eye of Alexandre Gabriel. Its typically Barbadian succulent nose reveals notes of toasted coconut, fudge and oaky vanilla while dried fruits, soft nutmeg and a touch of tobacco smoke show through on the palate. The finish is quite rich, exotic and lengthy and itr's great for sipping or adding to cocktails such as a Mai Tai
The Producer:
Plantation rum is the creation of Alexandre Gabriel owner of Maison Ferrand based in the Cognac region of France. In the 1990s Plantation Rum was launched after Alexandre put together a selection of artisanal rums sourced from across the Caribbean which encompass a broad range of styles, many of which are shipped to France for final maturation and bottling. The other main spirits in their portfolio are Cognac Ferrand and Citadelle Gin.
