Description
In a nutshell:
From the shores of Lake Garda, this vibrant, light, and juicy red is bursting with bright red berries, a hint of spice, and is effortlessly drinkable.
The lowdown:
From the southern shores of Lake Garda, this is Corvina in a lighter, softer mood - less intense than its neighbour Valpolicella but every bit as charming. Slow fermentation in stainless steel keeps it fresh and lively, letting all the juicy fruit shine. Think sweet cherries and ripe summer berries, with a little hint of spice and a tangy cranberry twist on the finish. Bright, easy-drinking, and seriously moreish, this is the kind of red that's made for laid-back enjoyment.
The Producer:
Monte del Frà , meaning Friars Hill, traces its roots back to the 14th century when a monastery first established vineyards on the land. However it wasn't until 1988 when Eligo and Claudio Bonomo began developing the family estate into the substantial operation it has since become. Over the years, they've expanded to around 200 hectares across Valpolicella and the surrounding area, making it one of the region's significant producers. Now with the third generation - Marica, Silvia, and Massimo Bonomo - on board the focus remains on producing elegant, terroir-driven wines that continue to uphold the estate's reputation.
When to drink:
A summertime red if ever there was one - perfect with cold roast beef, prosciutto, or a fresh tomato and mozzarella salad. Its bright fruit and crisp finish keep everything light, fresh, and delicious.
