Description
In a nutshell:
From the Mâconnais, this unoaked Chardonnay is crisp and pure, with bright citrus and orchard fruit flavours that feel fresh and nicely balanced.
The lowdown:
Down in Burgundy's southern corner, the Mâconnais is all about whites that are light, bright, and balanced, and this one's no exception. Made from grapes grown across three vineyards, it gets a little bit of time mature, bringing everything nicely together. Unoaked and fresh, the focus is all on the pure fruit - citrus, orchard notes, and a touch of florality. It's elegant, unfussy, and a pretty stylish take on classic Mâconnais Chardonnay.
The Producer:
Boutinot, the guys responsible for this wine, is a big name in the UK's wine scene and are behind many labels seen on shelves up and down the country. Paul Boutinot kicked things off in 1980, starting with importing wines and soon partnering with winemakers around the globe. They've since gone on to produce their own wines from places like the Rhône Valley, Italy, South Africa and many other places. Their secret is in backing passionate winemakers who aren't afraid to push the envelope, always aiming for wines that really capture the essence of their regions. This, along with providing excellent value for money, is something they've really nailed.
When to drink:
It's lovely and refreshing on its own, but try it with pan fried white fish or grilled vegetables so the crisp citrusy flavours and pure, light style can work a treat with something simple and tasty.
