The lowdown:
This is Vinho Verde, but not quite as you might know it. Made entirely from the Avesso grape, it's got the trademark zingy citrus and crisp acidity you'd expect, but with a bit more weight and roundness than the usual light-and-lean style. There's lemon and green apple up front, a hint of ripe peach in the background, and a subtle creaminess that gives it a bit of extra charm. Fresh, lively and just that little bit more satisfying - a great shout if you fancy something refreshing but not too featherweight.
When to drink:
Lovely with grilled sardines, seafood risotto or Vietnamese-style summer rolls - the citrus zip cuts through oil or spice, while the rounder body stands up to bolder flavours.
