Description
In a nutshell:
All the classic IPA vibes are here - piney, resinous hops with a refreshingly bitter finish.
The lowdown:
This Bermondsey brewer champions classic styles, with a playful twist. This India Pale Ale is a good case in point. Each brewed batch boasts a different hop selection. Sometimes fronting up with a citrusy burst, other times more floral or tropical. But there's one constant: that deeply satisfying, hoppy bitterness. It's the familiar backbone of a proper IPA, a comforting anchor alongside the nuanced flavour variations.
The Brewery
The Kernel was brewing in Bermondsey before the, now famous, Beer Mile was even a thing. Founded in 2009 by Evin O'Riordan, it set the standard that many others would follow - proper, no-nonsense beer with a focus on quality over hype. As the Beer Mile took off, Kernel took a different route though, moving its taproom away from the main crowds to shift its attention back to brewing. Even so, its influence on the area's craft beer scene is impossible to ignore.
Style - Pale Ale ABV 6.9% - Strong
