Description
In a nutshell:
A special beer from the renowned Bermondsey brewery Kernel.
The lowdown:
Fermented in their foudre (big oak barrel) this is a mixed culture fermentation using a Belgian Pale Ale strain. Lots of bittering hops have been used so the beer isn't too tart and the use of the foudre adds a lovely weight and texture.
The Brewery
The Kernel is the original Bermondsey craft brewery and was founded in 2009 by Evin O'Riordan, who wanted to create a brewery that focused on using the best ingredients and brewing techniques to produce beers that were both delicious and complex. They quickly gained a reputation for their hoppy beers, such as IPAs and DIPAs. However, they also turn out a wide range of other styles ranging from stouts, porters, saisons, and sours and even the odd lager or two. Theyre also committed to experimentation and innovation and are constantly pushing the boundaries. This has resulted in some quite unique and special beers, such as their barrel-aged and mixed fermentation beers.
Style - Saison & Farmhouse Ales ABV 4.7% - Moderate Strength
