Description
Saison, Farmhouse Beer & Biere de Garde
England: London
ABV 4.6% - 33.0cl
In a Nutshell:
A fresh, funky saison - lightly tart and unmistakably the dry-hopped version, with bright, zesty aromatics over a crisp finish.
The Lowdown:
Bright, zippy, and full of character, this is a saison with serious depth. Fermented with a mix of cultured and wild yeasts and aged in old wine barrels, it's got layers of gentle tartness, texture, and a touch of rustic funk. Each batch is dry-hopped for extra lift, with the hop varieties - as shown on the label - changing from one brew to the next. Bold but balanced, and seriously refreshing.
The Brewery
The Kernel was brewing in Bermondsey before the now-famous Beer Mile was even a thing. Founded in 2009 by Evin O'Riordan, it set the standard that many others would follow - proper, no-nonsense beer with a focus on quality over hype. And they're not one of those trendy craft brewery brands that started small but sold out to the corporates when the big boys came knocking. The Kernel's indie credentials and credibility are as strong today as they were when they started.
