Description
In a nutshell:
A creamy and clean pink Engish fizz from Hambledon of Hampshire, England's oldest commercial winery.
The lowdown:
Pale Provence pink in colour with blossom and wild-strawberry aromas. Rich and mouth filling flavours of strawberry balanced by a zingy tartness of cranberry and pithy Amalfi lemon notes with touches of classic chalky minerality. Crisp and clean finish with a hint of sweet red fruit.
The Producer:
Hambledon Vineyard , established in 1952 by Major-General Sir Guy Salisbury-Jones, proudly claims the title of "Englands oldest commercial vineyard." Nestled in the Hampshire downs, they now span over 200 acres, dedicated to Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier. These classic grape varieties are the backbone of their distinguished sparkling wines. It's a place where tradition meets innovation, with a quiet commitment to quality offering a taste of English viticulture that's both historic and forward-thinking.
When to drink:
A perfect summer aperitif but would also work with fish such as salmon fillets.
