Description
In a nutshell:
A complex, silky and floral VSOP Cognac which is emblematic of the Frapin House style.
The lowdown:
This classic pale VSOP Cognac is made from fruit coming exclusively from their superior Grande Champagne vineyards. Its deep amber colour and silky vanilla aromas are a result of the lengthy period spent in Limousin oak barrels. It also has distinctive fruity orange and floral notes which follow on to the palate and lead up to the lengthy finish which is marked with hints of spicy cinnamon and black pepper. In its distinctive bottle it exudes an air of understated quality which a is a hallmark of this historic Cognac house.
The Producer:
Frapin is one of the oldest Cognac houses, with a history tracing back to 1270. Remarkably, it remains a family concern, still owned by a descendant of the founder. Initially starting as winegrowers, Frapin quickly established a reputation for distilling, which became their hallmark. They own 240 hectares of vineyards around their home at Château Fontpinot in the village of Segonzac. All their vines are located in the Grande Champagne zone, known for being the best sites in the region. Every bottle of their Cognac, including the distinguished 'Trésors du Château' range of aged and vintage Cognacs, is produced entirely on their estate.
