The owners, the Manetti family, make a range of impeccably made wines and, this, their Chianti Classico is one of their flagships. 100% Sangiovese, it has a mix of cherries and peppery spices on the nose and a rich and rounded texture in the mouth. It has a great structure and finishes with a fine mineral sign off.
The Producer:
The Manetti family has owned Fontodi, situated in Pieve de Pansano in the heart of Tuscany south of Florence, since 1968 but have actually been in Chianti for centuries earlier, producing the finest terracotta at their factory in Ferrone. The same attention to detail that makes them the best producers of terracotta has been brought to bear on Fontodi over the past half century and has transformed a crumbling farmhouse with a few hectares of vineyard into one of Chianti Classico's most impressive estates. Giovanni Manetti has run the property since 1980 and ensures the wines are as meticulously made as the vineyards and cellar are immaculately tended.

Among food pairings its goes well with hard cheeses, charcuterie and cooked meats.
