Brewed in Germany's far north near the Danish border, this winter-only bock is a strong, spicy number with a golden amber hue, a touch of subtle hoppiness, and a rich malty backbone. Smooth and surprisingly potent, it slips down easily on a chilly evening - perhaps a little too easily.
The Brewery:
Flensburger is Germany's most northerly brewery. Located within throwing distance of Denmark and close to the Baltic the brewery still draw water from their own well which is apparently supplied by a melting Ice Age glacier with its source in Scandinavia. Their Pilsener put the brewery on the map and remains the best-selling beer to date.
