A superb, richly textured Single Quinta Vintage Port from one of the oldest Port houses.
The lowdown:
Single Quinta Vintage Ports are made in a similar way to other Vintage Ports in that they're bottled, without filtration, after a couple or so years in barrel and continue to mature in bottle from there. They will have a sediment and so should be decanted before drinking
Bomfim is regarded as one of the Duoro Valley's best vineyards and has been a staple of Dow's Vintage Port since the nineteenth century. Outside of generally declared vintage years they sometimes make a Single Quinta wine with fruit from just that estateas with this year's edition. It's rich and sleek with dark fruit flavours and spice and pepper balancing the dark chocolate notes and pleasingly long and smooth as it reaches its luxurious finish.
When to drink:
Just a bit drier than quite a few other ports which is Dow's hallmark, it's ideal with chocolate desserts, or blue veined cheeses.
