Description
In a nutshell:
Light, mellow and unoaked, this graceful Pinot Noir from the Mâconnais is all about subtle red fruit, soft edges and quietly confident Burgundian charm.
The lowdown:
Silky, supple and quietly charming, this is textbook southern Burgundy Pinot Noir - unoaked, fresh, and finely balanced. Aromatic and delicate, with soft red cherry fruit, a touch of spice and dried flower notes that draw you in. There's no hard edges, just a gentle, rounded finish with plenty of finesse. With Burgundian bargains being increasingly hard to find, this Mâconnais red is a different story - and effortlessly speaks for itself.
The Producer:
Domaine de la Pierre des Dames is a go-ahead 26-hectare estate tucked into the rolling hills of Prissé in the Mâconnais. Founded in 1992, it's run by Vincent Nectoux, who doubles as winemaker and estate manager. The domaine produces an impressively varied range of wines from Chardonnay, Aligoté, Pinot Noir, and Gamay. From crisp Mâcon-Prissé and elegant Saint-Véran to bright Mâcon-Rouge and Bourgogne Blanc, the wines are full of character and charm. Rooted in tradition but forward-looking, the estate farms sustainably and is proudly HVE-certified - flying the flag for southern Burgundian quality and value.
When to drink:
Try it with herb-roast chicken and root vegetables or a beetroot and goat's cheese tart - both pair well with the wine's soft texture, gentle spice, and bright red fruit. Lovely on its own, too.
