Description
In a nutshell:
Think bone-dry ballet slippers on a dew-kissed lawn, with a whisper of summer strawberries. A rosé of delicate charm and quiet sophistication.
The lowdown:
Pale melon hues in the glass hint at this rosé's delicate nature. The certified organic vineyards of Chateau de l'Escarelle are nestled high above the bustle of the coast, breathing in the pure Provençal air. Grenache and Cinsault grapes, meticulously hand-harvested and sorted, promise a wine of finesse. Wild strawberry and a touch of citrus rise on the nose, followed by a palate of summer fruits - think sun-warmed mango and a whisper of pomelo. It's a thoughtful rosé, with pleasing weight, subtle complexity, and a finish that lingers like a warm day fading into a cool evening.
The Producer:
Under the watchful eye of Yann Pineau, Château de l'Escarelle is quietly building a reputation for excellence in Provence. Nestled in woodland at the foot of the Montagne de La Loube, their 100 hectares of organically certified vineyards bask in the warm Provençal sun. Planted on slopes reaching up to 500 metres, the vines benefit from cooling Mistral winds and a complex clay-limestone soil. This, along with their dedication to organic methods, allows them to craft elegant, expressive Rosé wines that truly sing of Provence. Grenache, Syrah, and Cinsault are the stars here, but they also cultivate local gems like Caladoc and Rolle, all thriving in a biodiverse haven.
When to drink:
A crisp, dry rosé for summer evenings - simply chilled as the sun goes down, or alongside grilled sea bass and a tumble of courgettes.
Suitable for Vegans, Organic
