Description
In a nutshell:
A medium bodied, well-rounded wine with fruit forward notes, from Bordeaux, France.
The lowdown:
Chateau Fourcas Dupre sits on a 46-hectare estate in Listrac, the highest point in the Medoc. The vineyard has a mixture of well drained soils, 80% Pyrenean gravels, and 20% clay-limestone. Originally called Chateau Roulet, Jean Antoine Baptiste Dupre renamed the estate in 1843. The vineyards are planted with 44% Cabernet Sauvignon, 44% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot. Vinification is classical, with four weeks in vats, barrels and amphora. After which the wine is aged for 14 months in French oak barrels, of which 25% are new each year. This results in wine that is medium ruby in colour, which offers pretty notes of blueberries, cherries and flowers. It is a medium bodied wine that is balanced, rounded, with an impressive texture on the palate.
When to drink:
A great example of a Listrac, would best suit beef and lamp dishes.
