From vineyards near the commune of Arsac, this is the second wine from Château Haut-Breton Larigaudière. It's a blend of mostly Cabernet Sauvignon, with Merlot and a touch of Petit Verdot, aged for 12 months in oak. Generous and brambly, the nose offers mellow cedar and spiced oak, while the palate is rich and full, with notes of plum and gentle herbal hints. Supple tannins give it balance and make it approachable. A good example of the Margaux appellation, it brings together depth, elegance, and an easy-going charm.
The Producer:
Château Haut-Breton Larigaudière, located in the village of Soussans in Margaux, has roots stretching back to the 18th century. The estate spans 15 hectares of well-drained gravel and sandy soils, perfectly suited to Cabernet Sauvignon, which takes centre stage in the vineyard alongside Merlot and Petit Verdot. Purchased by the De Schepper family in 1964, the château has managed to balance tradition with modernity, embracing sustainable practices and earning High Environmental Value certification. A well looked after estate, it's a fine example of Margaux's elegance.
When to drink:
Perfectly ready to drink, this pairs beautifully with duck breast and cherry sauce or a wild mushroom and truffle risotto, its rich fruit and cedar notes enhancing the savoury depth of both dishes.
