Description
In a nutshell:
A deliciously rich and full left bank Claret.
The lowdown:
This is a Claret with some serious depth and structure, making it well worth trying. It starts with smoky and coffee aromas, and then you get those juicy blackberry and ripe cherry flavours. Underneath, there are cedar and earthy notes from the smooth tannins that tie everything together. Aged in 40% new oak barrels, it's almost 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, which is typical for the Médoc. Very well-balanced with a lovely, elegant finish
The Producer:
Taking its name from the favourable location it enjoys boasting stunning views over the Gironde estuary, Château Beau-Site can trace its history back to the 18th century. It's owned by one of the region's major negociants, Borie-Manoux and the Casteja family, alongside an array of other prestigious Bordeaux chateaux. The vineyards extend to 40 hectares of which nearly three-quarters is planted with Cabernet Sauvignon. They typically age their wines in about 50% new oak for around 12-15 months.
When to drink:
It's at its best right now and will stay that way for the next decade. It pairs perfectly with lamb, poultry, and red meats.
Suitable for Vegans
