The lowdown:
The Rutherglen region in north east Victoria is an area synonymous with sweet and fortified wines such as this and at Chamber's Rosewood vineyard they make some of the best examples to be found. Some of their highly prized, rare sweet wines are regularly lauded by the likes of Robert Parkerand James Halliday. This, their young and fresh wine, has the classic tawny colour and aromas of rose petals, raisins and dried fruit, charateristics which follow through to the palate which is well balanced with a clean acidity. The finish is pleasingly lengthy and vibrant with hints of sweet spice.

The Producer:
Chambers Rosewood Vineyards, one of the most revered wineries in Rutherglen, Victoria, was founded back in 1858 by William Chambers. Now run by the sixth generation of the family, they continue to specialise in the wines that have made this area famous. With 50 hectares of vineyards, they produce a range of still, sparkling, fortified, dry, and sweet wines that hark back to an earlier generation of Australian winemaking. Their standout wines are the Rutherglen Muscats, one of Australia's iconic sweet, fortified wines, showcasing the family's dedication to preserving the region's rich winemaking heritage.

When to drink:
Nicely chilled it makes an excellent tipple to have with a slice of cake as an afternoon treat.
