Description
Spain: Interior Iberia
Mellow & Rounded Red
Medium-Bodied - Unoaked
Vegan - ABV 13.0% - 75.0cl
In a Nutshell:
A juicy Tempranillo-Syrah blend from La Mancha, bringing soft fruit, gentle spice and a smooth, rounded feel.
The Lowdown:
The Castillo del Moro range are, quite simply, good value, modern style Spanish wines that are made to be very pleasurable drinking. This, the red, is made from fruit grown on the plains of La Mancha and is mostly Tempranillo topped us with a little Syrah which gives a touch of backbone and spice. It's not oak aged and retains all the fresh flavours of crunchy cherry and ripe red berry fruit and it rounds off nicely with a smooth and silky palate.
The Producer:
A range of great-value wines from across Spain, that's the objective of Vinos Más Buscados, the project behind this wine. The aim of Masters of Wine, friends and colleagues Fergal Tynan and Giles Cooke, who set things up, was to capture something of the country's hidden depth and untapped winemaking heritage and come up with well-priced expressions of place and personality that deserve attention but haven't always had it.
When to Drink:
An easy-drinking, all occasion number that's great on its own and very versatile with food.
