Fresh and floral, this lively de-alcoholised white from Jumilla in Southeast Spain is an inviting example what alcohol-free wines are capable of. After pressing and fermenting as normal to establish the wines fruit-filled and balanced character, the alcohol is carefully removed in a process that preserves its quality and flavour - just without the alcohol. The result is a crisp and aromatic with lively notes of citrus and elderflower, balanced by a subtle minerality on the finish.
The Producer:
Bodegas Luzón is named after the Philippines island of Luzon where founder Don José de Molina retired from in the 19th century to set up the estate, is a major player in the Jumilla region of southeast Spain. Here, the Monastrell grape is king, and Luzón's range is built around it, producing wines that showcase the variety's power and depth. However, they don't stop at Monastrell. Their portfolio also includes a number of whites, showing diversity and a commitment to innovation. Importantly, Luzón is embracing organic production, a move that reflects a growing awareness of sustainable viticulture in the region. As one of Jumilla's largest and most respected producers, Luzón's reputation is a good advert for the quality and potential of wines from this sunny corner of Spain.
