Description
Lambic & Gueuze
Belgium
ABV 6.2% - 33.0cl
In a Nutshell:
Bright, tart and complex, this limited-release Belgian blend balances amber richness with pure Lambic freshness.
The Lowdown:
A special beer brewed for a special beer event. Brasserie de la Senne have blended one of their own youthful amber ales with an aged Lambic from the noted Cantillon Brewery, creating a hybrid sour ale of real depth and focus. Tart, layered and invitingly complex, it's an elegant showcase for traditional technique and spontaneous fermentation. Created for Cantillon's Quintessence - Brussels's biennial celebration of Lambic culture - it's a glimpse into the fascinating world of Belgian sours while delivering plenty of bright, satisfying flavour along the way.
The Brewery:
Brasserie de la Senne, founded in 2003 by Bernard Leboucq and Yvan De Baets, has had quite an influence on Brussels' indie beer scene. Well before the fashion for noticeably hoppy beers came along, they were crafting bitter, aromatic beers with a purpose. Sticking to traditional methods, they balance character with restraint - no showy gimmicks. And they dabble in barrel-aged and mixed-fermented brews too. Distinctive beers, distinctively Brussels.
