Description
In a nutshell:
A characteristically full-bodied Barolo with red berry and floral notes, toasty spices, and silky tannins which feels effortlessly balanced.
The lowdown:
Undicicomuni might seem a bit of a mouthful, but it simply means 'eleven communes' - a nod to the fact that this wine brings together fruit from all eleven villages of the Barolo appellation. It's a true showcase of Barolo's varied terroirs, offering a classic expression of the character of the region's wines. Aged for over two years in large oak casks, it combines sweet berry aromas with a hint of smoky, autumnal warmth. On the palate, cherries and ripe strawberries take the lead, wrapped in a full-bodied structure with rounded, approachable tannins. The finish is long, juicy, and savoury, making it both satisfying and wonderfully inviting.
The Producer:
Arnaldo Rivera was the founder of the Terre del Barolo cooperative back in 1958, and since 2017 his name has graced a label dedicated to their finest Barolos. The range includes a classic Barolo made from fruit across the region, alongside several single-vineyard wines that offer a nuanced expression of the Nebbiolo grape and the unique character of each site. With a clear focus on quality and terroir, the wines showcase the expert craftsmanship of the winery and a beautifully pure expression of what Nebbiolo can deliver.
When to drink:
Drink it now or tuck it away for a few years - ossobuco alla Milanese or a crispy cotoletta both bring out its depth and savoury charm beautifully.
Suitable for Vegans
