Description
In a nutshell:
From the shores of Lake Garda, this gossamer-light and delicately fresh rosé is all about bright red berries, a whisper of citrus, and a crisp, elegant finish.
The lowdown:
If Bardolino reds are light and delicate, it makes sense that the rosés follow suit - and this one certainly does. Pale, dry and elegant, it's crafted from Corvina with freshness in mind. Theres a whisper of strawberries and cream on the nose, along with a subtle hint of savoury herbs. On the palate, vibrant cherry and raspberry flavours take centre stage, balanced by a crisp, refreshing finish. Despite its delicacy, theres just a touch of texture to keep things interesting. Bright, breezy and very moreish.
The Producer:
Monte del Frà , meaning Friars Hill, traces its roots back to the 14th century when a monastery first established vineyards on the land. However it wasn't until 1988 when Eligo and Claudio Bonomo began developing the family estate into the substantial operation it has since become. Over the years, they've expanded to around 200 hectares across Valpolicella and the surrounding area, making it one of the region's significant producers. Now with the third generation - Marica, Silvia, and Massimo Bonomo - on board the focus remains on producing elegant, terroir-driven wines that continue to uphold the estate's reputation.
When to drink:
Perfect for a picnic, its spot on with prawn salad, smoked salmon, or a classic Niçoise. Dry, refreshing, and delicately fruity, it lifts light seafood dishes without overwhelming the flavours.
