Description
In a nutshell:
A fresh and citrus filled white with complex aging from Kent producer Wayfarer Wines.
The lowdown:
Pale lemon in colour with a nicely rounded body, this English Chardonnay is a real treat. It kicks off with lovely notes of honeysuckle and just a whisper of brioche. There's a fresh, flinty minerality and a zippy acidity that's beautifully balanced by a soft texture. Partially aged in oak barrels for six months, this wine is elegant and packed with layers of complexity. Refined and very easy to like.
The Producer:
The story of Wayfarer Wines begins in 2016 when Jeff Ashford planted his first vines behind the family home in Kent. While English sparkling wines are all the rage, Jeff noticed that still wines were often just an afterthought. So, spotting a gap in the market, Wayfarer Wines now offers a range of excellent varietals like Bacchus, Ortega, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Gris. Their focus is on quality over quantity, and they seem to be pretty good at achieving that.
When to drink:
Would pair best with white fish dishes, its adaptable to suit any cooking method.
