Description
In a nutshell:
A lightly oaked and fruity 100% Bacchus from Kent producer Wayfarer Wines.
The lowdown:
Bacchus has truly found its groove in England, and it's easy to see why with this one. They've used partial oak ageing and lees stirring to amp up the complexity, body, and texture, making for a sophisticated sip. You'll catch subtle hints of vanilla, with a lovely lift from elderflower aromas and fresh lychee. Its well-balanced, with white peach shining through on the palate and a fresh finish that lingers nicely.
The Producer:
The story of Wayfarer Wines begins in 2016 when Jeff Ashford planted his first vines behind the family home in Kent. While English sparkling wines are all the rage, Jeff noticed that still wines were often just an afterthought. So, spotting a gap in the market, Wayfarer Wines now offers a range of excellent varietals like Bacchus, Ortega, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Gris. Their focus is on quality over quantity, and they seem to be pretty good at achieving that.
When to drink:
Would suit being paired with oily white and dark fish dishes.
