Description
In a nutshell:
Stylish black fruit, dried herbs and a touch of spice. A distinguished Cabernet Franc if there was one
The lowdown:
Classically Cabernet Franc graphite aromas along with fresh green leaves and red fruits lead the way here and lead to a long and elegant palate brimming with vibrant fruits, textured spice and a clean minerally core. Grown in sustainable Stellenbosch vineyards with minimal mechanical intervention and no herbicides or pesticides. Waterkloof, like many good wine estates, believe its all about the vineyard and this wine is a prime example of that. Dense, concentrated and complex there's much to enjoy in this.
The Producer:
Founded by Paul Boutinot in 2004, Waterkloof is a family-owned, organic, biodynamic and WWF Biodiversity Champion farm perched high up on the windswept Schapenberg, overlooking False Bay and The Atlantic Ocean. Living soils, naturally low yields and a long growing season help provide talented young Cellarmaster Nadia Barnard with naturally balanced grapes that are imbued with a truly defining sense of origin. Those grapes are then transformed into wine with a minimum of intervention. The resulting wines are fine, inimitable and made to be enjoyed with good food.
When to drink:
Its livliness makes it a great food wine. Slow roasted lamb shank, as a suggestion, is a great partner.
Suitable for Vegans, Biodynamic
