In a nutshell: The dark version of the famous Landlord Pale Ale.
The lowdown: Timothy Taylor's Landlord Dark Ale originates from the classic Landlord Pale but brewed with caramelised sugars resulting in a rich yet light and drinkable dark ale. Well balanced and mellow dark beer with a fruity, toasty aroma with hints of chocolate, citrus and and roasted malts on the palate.
Style - Brown Ale & Mild & Other Ales ABV 4.1% - Moderate Strength
The family owned Yorkshire brewery Timothy Taylor was founded in the 1850s by, you guessed it, Timothy Taylor. Four years after establishment the brewery moved to new premises in Keighley where it remains to this day.
When it comes to classic, picturesque brew houses, Timothy Taylor must lead the pack. One reason for keeping to their historic premises at Knowle Springs is the need to draw water from their onsite artesian well which is considered to be critical to the characteristic of their best known ale - Landlord.
