The lowdown:
Stone were one of the first to push IPAs on the US craft brewing scene and have since become one of the most successful and highly regarded. Their Hazy IPA is a touch less bitter than some of their other IPAs yet is still packed with bold hop flavours. El Dorado and Azacca hops bring citrus and stone fruit notes while the use of Sabro adds tropical fruit touches. A juicy, fruity IPA with tons of orange, lemon, melon, mango and pineapple fruit flavours.
The Brewery:
Founded by Greg Koch and Steve Wagner, Stone Brewing has come a long way since opening in San Diego County in 1996. They're now the ninth-largest craft brewer in the US operating two breweries. One in Escondido, California and the other on the east coast in Richmond, Virginia. At the start their aim was to create amazing, flavour packed beers which provided an alternative to the industrialized beers that dominated the market at the time. While they were confident in what they were trying they certainly didn't foresee what Stone would eventually grow into, nor that their brewery would be a big part of the craft beer revolution in the US and around the world.
