Description
In a nutshell:
Bright and zippy, this Adelaide Hills Sauvignon Blanc is packed with juicy citrus, passionfruit, and a hint of fresh herbs, all wrapped up in a refreshing minerality and a clean, crisp finish.
The lowdown:
The cooler climate of the South Australia's Adelaide Hills is perfect for Sauvignon Blanc, and this one comes from one of the region's best producers. Since hitting the scene in the 1990s, it's become a benchmark for premium Aussie Sauvignon Blanc. Fresh and vibrant, it's packed with trademark pink grapefruit, loads of bright fruit, and just the right amount of weight on the palate. With its crisp acidity and zippy, refreshing finish, it's hard to beat and as an aromatic, flavourful white with a clean, lively edge, this is one to bear in mind.
The Producer:
The renowned South Australian wine estate of Shaw + Smith was the result of a long lunch in 1989 when cousins Martin Shaw and Michael Hill Smith decided to realise a long-held dream to make wine together. Based in the rolling Adelaide Hills their vision remains as it was which is to make exciting, refined wines exclusively from this part of the world that ranks among Australia's best viticultural areas. The wines are made from a number of sites throughout the Adelaide Hills. They specialise in grape varieties suited to the cooler climate, namely Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Shiraz. This approach and their skill has made them one of the most successful producers in the Adelaide Hills.
When to drink:
Perfect as an aperitif, it's also a dream with the likes of barbecued prawns with lime or a fresh mango and avocado salad - its bright citrus and herbal notes make those flavours sing.
Suitable for Vegans
